ONLINE REGISTRATION

We are now offering online registration and payment for District Conference!  To Register and pay for conference online please click here.  Please refer to the instructions below before you make your purchase.

Things to know about online registration:

  • There will be a convenience fee added to each purchase.  This is to make up for fees the District has to pay for the service.  This will show up as “tax” at checkout.
  • We are not able to offer things for free on the site.  Things that should be free now cost 1 penny.
  • Once you make your purchases, no further registration is needed.

Registration Guide:

  • After navigating to the store, you will need to purchase the following for each attendee:
    • Registration
    • Meals
    • Children/Youth Activities (if needed)
  • First click on the “District Conference Registration” item, select the registration type and quantity, and click “Add to Cart”.  Then click “Continue Shopping”.  If you are registering Different numbers of Delegates and Non-Delegates you will need to add one “District Conference Registration” item for each type.
  • Then click on the “District Conference Meals – Adult” item and click the box for each meal you will be attending, along with the number of people attending.  Attendees with a different meal configuration will need to be added separately.  For children, please use the “District Conference – Child” item.
  • If you need to register for Youth/Children’s Activities, please click on the “Children and Youth Activities” item and select which activities and the number needed.  If you need to register for different numbers of child and youth activities, they will need to be added separately.
  • Once all of the Registration, Meals, and Activities have been added, go to your shopping cart (cart button in the top right of the main page) and click “Checkout”.  Fill out the required information and in the box labeled “Additional note to merchant” please add your congregation name and the name of any additional attendees being registered with you.  Now click “Place Order” and you’re done!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The District Conference Planning Committee is in need of volunteers to help in the nursery during District Conference August 2 – 4, 2019 at the Church on Northland in Cedar Rapids IA.  Help is needed during each worship service (Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday morning and during the business sessions on Saturday (morning and afternoon). Please contact Chris Tobias with any questions or for volunteering.

 

WITNESS COMMISSION PROJECTS
The Witness Commission will be collecting cleaning buckets for a service project at District Conference in August 2019.  Some buckets will be distributed at the next District Board meeting for congregations to fill.  These will be processed through Church World Service.  See list below:

1 five gallon bucket with resealable lid
4 scouring pads
7 sponges, including 1 large
1 scrub brush
18 reusable cleaning towels (e.g. Easy Wipes)
One 50 oz or two 25 oz bottles of liquid laundry detergent
One 16-28 oz bottle of liquid disinfectant dish soap
One 12-16 oz bottle of house hold cleaner that can be mixed with water (no spray bottles)
One pkg of 48-50 clothespins
Clothesline, two 50 ft or one 100 ft
Five dust masks
Two pairs heavy-duty, waterproof dishwashing gloves (latex- free, non-surgical)
One pair work gloves, cotton with leather palm or all leather
24-28 heavy duty 30-45 gallon trash bags on a roll and removed from carton
One 6-9 oz bottle of non-aerosol insect repellent
All items must be new.  Place all items in bucket, snap the lid on tight and seal with packing tape.

Other District Conference Service Opportunities–helping the local area of the Church on Northland in Cedar Rapids, who is hosting our District Conference 2019.

1. Cash donations and/or nonperishable food for a local Food Pantry in Cedar Rapids/Marion
2.  Family Promise Program–this is a program that supports homeless families.  It includes 13 different churches.  Each church keeps 1 or 2 families overnight from 5:00 pm to 7:00 am for 1 week per quarter.  The churches supply lodging, meals and activities.  The Church on Northland is a participating church.   Cash donations are welcome.
3.  Diapers for Haiti–contact Diane Sittig if you need info on making them.

 

NORTHERN PLAINS DISTRICT CONFERENCE AUCTION
Saturday, August 3, 2019
Church on Northland, Cedar Rapids, IA

This year we are going with a new format. It will be a noisy, boisterous, energetic, SILENT AUCTION!

Bring your usual items AND the “not so usual” items.

Themed baskets would be welcomed, such as gardening, Tupperware, teatime, grandma’s kitchen, sports activity, movie night, reading in bed, etc.

We look forward to a great auction again this year.
