An Intercultural Awareness and Storytelling Workshop for the Northern Plains District Church of the Brethren

  • Enhancing Respect for Others

  • Building Welcoming Congregations

Led by Rubin Deoleo (Director of Intercultural Ministries) and Janis Pyle (Former Coordinator for Mission Connections).

September 30th—October 2nd, 2011
Camp Pine Lake, Eldora, IA

Description:
We will learn to intentionally engage the ever-changing world around us at this special Northern Plains District fall event.  In a workshop setting at Camp Pine Lake, we will study intercultural awareness under guest speaker Ruben Deoleo, director of Intercultural Ministries for the Church of the Brethren.  We will also practice story-sharing with Janis Pyle, former coordinator for mission connections for the denomination.  The event is designed to model ways in which we can respectfully, authentically and scripturally reach out to those who are different from us.  We will begin with supper Friday evening and conclude with Brethren Love Feast as our noon meal at the Ivester congregation following an intercultural “world communion” worship.  Everyone is welcome to participate in all or part of this special weekend.
